MCLDI – Motion Capture / Interactive Digital Laboratory

MCLDI (2023–2024) was a research project at the Lisbon Theatre and Film School (ESTC), funded by the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (IPL) through the 8th edition of its IDI&CA call (ref. IPL/IDI&CA2023/MCLDI_ESTC). The project investigated the artistic and pedagogical use of motion capture technologies at the Theatre and Film School, through laboratory work with students.

Stephan was a member of the project team, teaching in ESTC's Postgraduate Programme in Media & Performance and performing as media artist in NoCap.

NoCap – Dancing with Data

A ten-minute performance in which the motion capture suit is removed from the performer's body and its sensor data drive a live generative visual environment. NoCap was part of (CON)FUNDIR, a performative installation (collective creation: A. Isa Araújo and André Carvalho) presented at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC), Lisbon, on 2–3 July 2024.
